The same way all bullshit works.

Take common themes and associate them with common events. Remember to be vague.

    Get “the dream book”…

There are common symbols that are used to express ideas.

    They tend to be universal.

For example a “dog” in a dream – tends to symbolize “fate”… the way that works is DOG is GOD spelled backwards.

Fate/God is messing with you if you’re being chased by a dog or dogs.

There are many more of these.

One hint… the WORDS used to describe a dream – are often times more accurate than the image you’re describing.

If you used the WRONG WORD to describe a scene or object – the wrong word is likely to be the right one.

Books and people who claim to know exactly what your dreams mean are mistaken. Dreaming is sourced in the subconscious mind, which is unique to each individual, although we all share some commonalities. But, your impression of water may be hugely different than mine, along with the emotions that are attached to it.
Better to think about your dreams and how themes in them apply to things going on in your life.

I’m a psychology major and have been doing dream interpretations for a while as a hobby. there really is no exact formula for interpreting dreams. if you have a certain technique that you use then that is probably as good as any. in other words, dream interpretation is not an exact science, but here are few things to look for when interpreting dreams to give you an as close as possible interpretation.

    1. important things and feelings that is going on in the person’s life
    2. lighting or colors of the dream – dim or dark colors usually represent something negative, while light or bright colors represent normalcy
    3. everything is a symbol, no matter how insignificant it might seem. list as many symbols as possible and make your interpretation based on those
    4. Lucid, nightmare, recurring, prophetic, epic and signal dreams are categories that dreams usually fall into. lucid dreams are dreams that the dreams can control, nightmares are scary dreams, recurring dreams are dreams that happen over and over again, sometimes one after another, other times a dream will happen then it will happen again 3 months later, prophetic dreams are dreams that predict the future, epic dreams are dreams that are so vivid and detailed that the dreamer can not ignore it, and signal dreams are dreams that help the dreamer solve a problem in their life
    5. dream interpretation is not an exact science

  • WanderingSiren:

When I used to do dream interpretations, I found that the most accurate way to do it was through symbolism and associations. For example, if you and I both saw a spider in our dream, it would not have the same meaning for both of us, it is subjective on what you associate the spider with (the first word or thought that pops in your head when you think of a spider). Also, the demeanor of living things or the state of places adds meaning to the dream as well. Best thing to do is to write your dream down in detail when you wake up while it’s fresh in your mind. Then, rewrite it by substituting what you associate with what you saw. Makes for an intersting read and is more insightful than what any dream book can offer you.

There are rules of thumb about dreams. First, there are 3 types, those from the self,i.e., those that replay the mundane goings on of daily life, those that come from the devil, nightmares etc… and the last type are those from God, the prophetic dreams or visions. The interpretor needs to know which kind of dream it is before deciphering. The dreams from self and the devil are pretty much self explanatory, it’s the visions that need interpretation. A dreamer should not mention a bad dream to anyone at all, lest it occur. A good dream should be made known only to those people who truly love the dreamer. The interpretor must have religious knowledge and ask necessary questions. The dreamer must explain the dream truthfully, not adding or deducting any information. The mood of the dream does not necessarily point to the “goodness” or “badness” of the dream. Sometimes the dream is distrurbing and one whose feeling cannot be shaken off for a time, however the denotation of the dream is good. Some dreams have direct opposing meanings, for example, if one dreams of someone dying, it means that that person will have a long life or if someone kills another in a dream, it means that the victim will actually benefit from the killer in real life. These are some things to look for. There are symbols in dreams like snakes, for example that means exactly what a snake would connote in real life but not all real life connotations apply to the meanings of dream symbols. For example, a dog is considered to be a loyal companion etc.. but its appearance in a dream signifies a faithless and disloyal friend. Amateur interpretors will apply real life connotations to symbols that do not fall under such interpretation. These symbols do not come under the aegis of real llife, they come under those of the spiritual world as sleep is akin to death and death is not the same as life.
Dreams allow vision and insight into whole other worlds. Some have the vision, some cannot see at all though a vision has come to them.

Like I said, the interpretor must know what to interpret as not all dreams should be given credence, particularly, the run of the mill soap opera replay of life dreams lor what most will call, those that emanate from the subconscience. Actually, these dreams simply expose the dreamer’s character, of course in addition to what they are going through. Another thing that should be mentioned is that dreams mirror reality by showing the opposing picture. This applies especially to dreams of the “disturbing nature”, i.e., incestuous dreams, husband/ wife cheating etc… If a dreamer dreams of something that would not have occurred to him at all, that he never would have thought about, this simply confirms what is occuring. To clarify: dreams confirm the events of reality by making manifest the opposing reality. So that I dream my husband/wife is cheating when I know that would be impossible is simply a confirmation of what is actually happening. To know what something is, one must see what it is not. Dreams show us what is not sometimes

There’s a crash course for you.
